Recap: Hartwick won in five sets against visiting Elmira College on Friday night at Lambros Arena to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Hawks fell behind two sets to one but won the final two in dramatic fashion for the big victory. 'Wick would take set one 25-23 capped off by
Katie Boak's (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) service ace for a 1-0 lead. The Soaring Eagles came back in set number two after trailing late, 22-19. EC would take seven of the next nine points for a 26-24 win to even the sets at 1-all. The visitors would lead for much of the third set by a slim margin before coming away with a 25-21 win a 2-1 set advantage. The Hawks and Soaring Eagles were tied at 21 in the fourth before a setting error gave 'Wick the edge and it held for the rest of the way, 25-23, to force a deciding fifth set. Hartwick won six of the first eight points in the decider to take command. EC got as close as one point twice, including at 10-9, but the Hawks won four of the next five for a 14-10 lead and an EC attack error handed the Hawks the victory.
Maria Sorriento (Troy, NY/Troy) led all players with 18 kills. She just missed a double-double with nine digs.
Myla Dobson (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added 15 kills and
Celia Gagnon (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane) contributed 13.
Jamie Reidy (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) had a double-double with a career-high 50 assists and 12 digs. Boak finished with a match-high 18 digs.
Kiera Walsh (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) chipped in 10 digs and eight kills. EC was led by Natalie Schieder's 14 kills. She added 11 digs. Tiara John had 11 kills and nine digs.

Notes: Hartwick wins for just the fifth time in 42 meetings between the Hawks and Soaring Eagles. 'Wick, however, has won the last three. The Hawks would overcome 23 service aces in the match to earn the victory.
