Recap: St. John Fisher snapped a 1-all tie in the 63rd minute and hung onto it the rest of the way in a big 2-1 victory over Hartwick in Empire 8 women's soccer. The Hawks had three of the first four shots in the game, including a Sara McGiff (Brookhaven, NY/St. Anthony's) effort that was cleared off the line by a Cardinal defender. Instead, the hosts struck first in the 19th minute as Carli Kovarik tallied unassisted. The lead was short-lived, however, as the Hawks drew a penalty kick and Tanner Reed (Unadilla, NY/Unatego Central) converted it past Fisher keeper Melissa McGowan in the 25th minute. In the second half with the score knotted at one, the Hawks had the first three shots, but Fisher would score first as Kovarik tallied on a breakaway at the 62:07 mark. The Hawks mustered two shots and one corner over the next 20 minutes. McGiff had the Hawks' final chance with less than four minutes remaining but McGowan came away with her third and final stop to preserve the Fisher win. St. John Fisher had a 12-10 edge in shots in the match. Both teams managed only one corner. McGiff and Reed finished the game with three shots apiece. Rachel Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls), Gabrielle Kreppein (Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls), Rachel Weir (New Milford, CT/New Milford), and Alexa DuBois (Hobart, NY/South Kortright) each had one. Cassandra Robataille (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) made four stops in the 'Wick goal.

Game Notes: The Hawks slip to 9-9-6 all-time against the Cardinals in 24 meetings.
