Recap: Visiting Stevens started strong in all three sets as the Ducks would come away with a 3-0 victory over Hartwick in Empire 8 women's volleyball Friday night at Lambros Arena. The Ducks opened the match winning six of the first seven points and quickly jumped out to a 13-3 advantage. They would take five of the final six points for a 25-10 win in the first set. The visitors rallied for eight consecutive points to start the second set. The Hawks would trim the gap to six points at four different times but Stevens ended the set winning four of the last six points for a 25-17 win and a two sets to zero lead. 'Wick conceded the first six points of the third set. The Hawks came back with five of the next eight points to remain close but Stevens won 11 of the next 16 to open up a 10-point edge, 20-11. The Ducks closed the third set out, 25-14 to record the victory and stay unbeaten in the E8. Maria Sorriento (Troy, NY/Troy) led all players with 11 kills for Hartwick. She added six digs. Kiera Walsh (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Celia Gagnon (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane) each had six kills for 'Wick. Jamie Reidy (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) dished out 20 assists. Katie Boak (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) recorded nine digs. Stevens was led by Shelby Stewart's nine kills. Sara Hain added eight.
