Volleyball Rolls by Cazenovia on Day One of Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational

ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick women's volleyball team allowed just 34 total points on Friday night, sweeping Cazenovia (25-8, 25-13, 25-13) on the first day of the Dig Pink Invitational hosted by SUNY Oneonta. The win brings the Hawks to 15-10 on the year, while the Wildcats drop to 3-21.

Three Hawks tied for the team lead with eight kills apiece. Toria Betelak (North Syracuse, NY/Liverpool) had her eight on just 15 attempts (as well as zero errors), good for a .533 attack percentage. She also added a pair of blocks and aces. Maria Sorriento (Troy, NY/Troy) had eight kills on a .429 attack percentage, contributing with three blocks and two aces to boot. Colette Maloney (Williston Park, NY/Mineola) was the third Hawk with eight kills, and had one block in addition to her hitting prowess. 

Celia Gagnon (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane) led all Hawks with four blocks (two solo), also sending five balls to the floor on kills. Kayley Ericson (Franklin, CT/Norwich Free Academy) did the setting for Hartwick, assisting on 31 kills. She also had two kills and a block on the evening.

The Hawks round out their season tomorrow on the second and final day of the Dig Pink Invitational, taking on Baruch at noon and Eastern at 2 p.m.
