On This Day (10/25/08): Boltus and Phelan Lead Football Romp Over Mount Ida

On this day in 2008 the Hartwick football team improved to 5-1 after a 58-27 thrashing of Mount Ida.

QB Jason Boltus (pictured) tied for the most yards thrown in an NCAA game that season with 508 and added six touchdown passes while WR Jack Phelan had four of those scores, 14 catches, and an NCAA-high 311 yards.

The Hawks jumped out to a 21-0 lead on their hosts, and although Mount Ida outscored 'Wick 21-14 in the second quarter, the visitors put the game away with 20 unanswered points in the second half.

Boltus' six touchdown passes gave him 114 for his career, which was just two short of the program's all-time record that he now holds at 134. Phelan's 311 receiving yards broke the previous highest single-game total in the country, which he also held at 289.
