ONEONTA, N.Y. – Matt Rogers, Hartwick College Head Football Coach, has recently announced the additions of Jason Salcedo as Wide Receivers Coach and Michael Cunningham as Running Backs Coach, effective July 27th.
Jason Salcedo comes to Hartwick after serving as Assistant Wide Receivers Coach for the Alfred University Saxons since August of 2024.
"Jason has been a part of a very successful program at Alfred University," says Rogers, "and that experience will help our program– particularly our wide receivers."
Prior to his work at Alfred University, Salcedo spent one year as an Athletics Event Management Intern at Alfred State while pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in Sports Management.
"I'm excited for the opportunity Hartwick has provided and am thrilled to be a part of the Hawks family," Salcedo remarks.
Michael Cunningham comes to Hartwick after concluding his own playing career as a four-year defensive line starter at McDaniel College this past spring.
"Having just finished his playing career, Michael brings a unique perspective to the staff," Rogers comments. "His experience on the defensive side of the ball will no doubt be beneficial to the offensive staff."
During his time as a player, Cunningham was an instrumental part of the McDaniel defense, tallying up a career total of 48 solo tackles and 56 assisted tackles in 33 games. He also recorded sixteen tackles for loss, resulting in a total loss of fifty-five yards for opposing offenses, as well as 5.5 sacks for a loss of 31 yards.
"I am blessed for this opportunity and can't wait to get to work," says Cunningham.
These two additions to the football coaching staff come just before the beginning of Matt Rogers' first season as Head Coach of Hartwick's football program.
"We are excited to welcome both Jason and Michael into our football program," Rogers says about these new additions. "Throughout the interview process, both stood out for not only their football knowledge, but for their enthusiasm and ability to connect with people."
