On this day in 2019 Carly Johnson (pictured) of the Hartwick women's basketball team scored her 1000th career point, becoming the 15th player in program history to join that exclusive club, as the Hawks downed Houghton, 78-67.
The two sides kept it close for the first quarter, but a 9-0 'Wick run near the start of the second gave them an 11-point lead. The visitors ultimately took a 34-25 lead into the locker room after Mary Schoenherr's buzzer-beating lay-up.
The Highlanders made a push back in the third, at one point cutting their deficit to three. The Hawks held steady, though, and eventually extended their lead back up to 12 headed into the final quarter. Johnson scored her 1000th point with 47 seconds left in the contest, becoming the first member of the program to do so since Kate Purcell in 2013.
