Hawks and Saxons Battle to 0-0 Draw

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks and Saxons battled for 90 minutes, but neither team was able to find the back of the net and had to settle for a 0-0 draw in Empire 8 action on Sunday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Hartwick put offensive pressure on the Saxons throughout the entire first period, putting up 9 shots and earning 9 corner kick opportunities.
  • The Hawks put four of their nine shots on goal, but the Alfred goalie recorded all four saves.
  • Sara Staup (Woodinville, Wash.) stopped two Saxon shots to prevent the visitors from getting on the board.
  • Hartwick once again out-shot the Saxons in the second half, but were not able to put as many on goal.
  • However, the Hawks' defense denied Alfred opportunities as well.
  • Despite late pressure from both squads, the score would ultimately remain 0-0 for the final.
