ALBANY, N.Y. – Hartwick Women's Soccer picked up a big Empire 8 win on Wednesday night, using a late second half goal to beat Sage on the road 1-0.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Hartwick earned six corner kicks and got off four shots in the first half, but could only put two shots on goal.
- The Hawks continued to make the most of their shot opportunities in the second half, putting three of their four on goal.
- One of those shots was the game-winner as Sydney Franza (Ellenville, N.Y.) picked up her first collegiate goal in the 72nd minute to give Hartwick the 1-0 lead.
- Grace Byrne (Lynbrook, N.Y.) picked up the assist on the goal.
- While Sage tallied 18 total shots across the 90 minutes of play, the home squad was only able to put one on goal.
- Hawks' keeper, Sara Staup (Woodinville, Wash.) made the save to record the shutout victory.
