Women’s Soccer Takes Down First Place Naz on Senior Day

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick Women's Soccer continued to make moves up the Empire 8 standings on Saturday afternoon, using a first half goal to beat the visiting Nazareth Golden Flyers on Senior Day, 1-0.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Nazareth found a way to get off 20 shots across 90 minutes, while the Hawks were only able to get eight off.
  • Despite the shot disparity, it was the Hawks who would make it count as senior Nicole Conway (Chester, N.Y.) notched her first goal of the season in the 37th minute to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead.
  • Jenna Mierek (Prospect, Conn.) picked up the assist on the tally.
  • Sara Staup (Woodinville, Wash.) posted her 4th straight clean sheet, recording six saves to help the Hawks preserve the 1-0 win.

The Hawks will host town rival, Oneonta State on Tuesday night at 6 PM before hitting the road on Saturday for their final regular season Empire 8 contest.
