ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks battled back twice from deficits, but could not overcome a two-touchdown 4
th quarter from the Golden Eagles, ultimately falling 35-14 on Saturday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- After winning the toss, Brockport deferred to the second half, giving the Hawks the ball to start the game.
- The Golden Eagles forced a three-and-out and jumped on Hartwick quick, scoring on a 34-yard run on their first offensive play of the game.
- Despite the early setback, the Hawks' defense tightened up, forcing Brockport to turn the ball over on downs.
- Hartwick's defense continued to get the ball back into the hands of their offense ending Brockport drives with three straight interceptions in the first quarter.
- The third interception got the Hawks on the board as Nelon Priest (Schenectady, N.Y.) turned it into a pick-six with a 62-yard return.
- Brockport responded quickly to take the advantage back with the second of four touchdown runs in the game from Gino Fontanarosa.
- The Golden Eagles added to their lead in their first drive of the 3rd quarter to extend their lead to 21-7.
- Once again, the Hartwick defense stepped up, forcing two more turnovers on downs.
- The Hawks capitalized on the turnover, as Kyle Szokoli (Greenlawn, N.Y.) connected with Nate Rath (Newport, N.Y.) for a four-yard touchdown catch to bring the contest back to a one possession game at 21-14 with 4:47 remaining in the 4th quarter.
- The home team's defense forced another three-and-out, but the Brockport punter pinned the Hawks on their own two-yard line.
- Unfortunately, the Hawks could not get out of the jam and turned the ball over on downs allowing Brockport to score two plays later with another Fontanarosa run.
- Hartwick made one last push, but a 65-yard pick-six by the Golden Eagles put the game out of reach and the Hawks ultimately fell 35-14.
- Offensively, Szokoli passed for 203 yards, while Carlvin McDonald (Central Islip, N.Y.) caught 10 passes for 68 yards, and Naquan Bradshaw (Syracuse, N.Y.) caught six passes for 66 yards.
- Defensively, Bryan Grimes (Albany, N.Y.) tallied 12 total tackles, and Jake Ely (Fulton, N.Y.) picked up 10 total tackles including a sack. Ely also forced one fumble.
- Besides his pick-six, Priest added another interception to go along with his three solo tackles. Shane Simon (Hamburg, N.Y.) had the third Hartwick interception.

Hartwick will play their final three regular season contests on the road, beginning with a trip to St. John Fisher on Saturday, October 29 to face off with the Cardinals in another Empire 8 game. Kickoff is set for 1 PM in Rochester, N.Y.
