ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks fell behind early and could not put a run together, ultimately falling to the Pioneers from Utica University 53-37 in Empire 8 action on Saturday.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Utica came out of the 1st quarter with a five-point lead over the Hawks.
- Hartwick looked to respond, but were outscored by four, allowing the Pioneers to take a nine-point lead into the half.
- The first half for both teams was characterized by turnovers, with Utica committing 13 and Hartwick committing 12. However, both teams converted those turnovers into eight points each.
- The Pioneers rode a 7 from 16 shooting performance from the field in the 3rd quarter to extend their lead over the Hawks.
- The visitors closed out the 53-37 victory over Hartwick in the 4th, holding the hosts to just seven points in the final quarter.
- Morgan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) led the Hartwick scorers with 14 points, going 7 for 13 from the field, while Sereena DiCerbo (Schenectady, N.Y.) pulled down a team-high seven boards.
