Volleyball Ends Weekend with Two Road Wins

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – Hartwick wrapped up their weekend trip to Long Island with two more wins at the St. Joseph's Tri-Match.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
Hartwick vs St. Joseph's
 
  • The Hawks used a balanced attack to down the host squad, 3-0 on Saturday morning.
  • Kaileigh Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) put up a team-high nine kills while only committing one attack error.
  • Niah Reeves (Binghamton, N.Y.) and Shaelyn Thorton (Scarborough, Me.) each added eight kills.
  • The Hawks also combined for 8 aces.
  • Defensively, Hartwick held the Golden Eagles to a .013 hitting percentage across the three sets including a -.207 hitting percentage in the second set.

  • Brandow came out swinging once again in the second match, putting up 14 kills on 38 attempts.
  • Hartwick also received strong performances by Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) and Shelby Swartz (Candor, N.Y.) who each picked up seven kills.
  • The Hawks' serve game was stellar once again with Reeves posting seven on her own.  In total, Hartwick tallied 18 aces through the four-set affair.
  • Setter, Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) collected 34 assists.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
 
Hartwick will make their 2022 home debut on Friday, September 16 at 4 PM in the first match of their home tournament against William Smith College.  On Saturday, the Hawks are slated to take on SUNY Morrisville and Alfred State.
