WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Dutchwomen put up 4 shots to Hartwick's two in the first half, three of which were on goal.
  • Sam Friedman from Union scored on one of those shots when she corralled a rebound off of a block from Hartwick's defensive line and shot it across the box inside the left post past a diving Sara Staup (Woodinville, Wash.).
  • For the Hawks in the first, Kayla Grassi (Montgomery, N.Y.) got off a shot that went wide, while Julia Bono (West Milford, N.J.) was able to put it on net, but not past the Union keeper.
  • Up 1-0 going into the second half, the Dutchwomen continued to dominate offensively, getting off five shots.
  • Three of the Union shots were on goal, but Staup was up to the task, denying all three to keep the Hawks within striking distance.
  • Hartwick put together one final push, and Grassi got a shot off in the final seconds of the 90th minute, but it went just outside the left post.
  • Staup picked up five saves across 90 minutes of action.
  • For their efforts across the two Mayor's Cup games this weekend, Grassi along with Hannah Bochniak (Barneveld, N.Y.) were selected to the Mayor's Cup All-Tournament Team.
