Hawks Soar Past Fighting Tigers 3-0

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick used a strong hitting performance and a solid defensive presence at the net to sweep the visiting Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill in three sets.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Setter Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) set the tone early, serving 10 straight points before the Fighting Tigers got on the board in the first set.
  • The Hawks spread out their attack with three players recording double digit kills across the three sets.
  • Kaileigh Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) paced the attack, recording 12 kills.
  • Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.) and Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) were close behind with each posting 11.
  • The offense, which collectively recorded 40 kills, wasn't the only side of the game that was on a roll for Hartwick. 
  • The Hawks were dominant on defense at the net, recording 20 total blocks enroute to holding Cobleskill to a negative hitting percentage for the match.
  • Niah Reeves (Binghamton, N.Y.) led the way, contributing six block assists, while Thornton was in on five block assists.
