Hawks End Perfect Home Week with 3-1 Win over Houghton

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Hartwick remained unbeaten on the week, defeating the Highlanders 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 action.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
 
  • Hartwick won the first two sets by identical scores of 25-22. 
  • In a set that saw six tie scores and four lead changes, the third set would be a back-and-forth affair in which the Highlanders won 26-24.
  • As they did last night, the Hawks rallied in the fourth set to claim the 3-1 conference win.
  • Staecia Silofau (Kapolei, Hawaii) put away 13 kills across the four sets, while Shaelyn Thornton (Scarborough, Me.) and Kaileigh Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) each added 12.
  • Brandow completed the double-double for the Hawks, also picking up 15 digs.
  • Also collecting double-digit digs was Braelyn Hornick (Candor, N.Y.) with 15, and Colette Maloney (Williston Park, N.Y.) with 13.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
 
Hartwick hits the road this weekend for two more Empire 8 contests.  The first is on Friday, September 30 at Nazareth at 6 PM, while the second is on Saturday at St. John Fisher.  The Fisher match is set to begin at 2 PM.
