ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Hawks Men's Swimming and Diving team dropped their final home contest of the 2022-2023 season on Saturday afternoon.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Hawks opened the afternoon celebrating their five graduating seniors, Nic Canney (Chandler, Ariz.), Sam Cole (Albany, N.Y.), James Lukasik (Danbury, Conn.), Reid Sinkinson (Telford, Pa.), and Dawson Tupponce (Phoenix, Ariz.).
- Hartwick started behind the Pioneers early, finishing second, fifth, and sixth in the 200-yard medley relay.
- However, the Hawks responded as Canney took second in the 1000-yard freestyle and Brady Haraden (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) took third.
- Tupponce picked up points for Hartwick, finishing second in the 200-yard free, while Sebastian Knowles (Plano, Tex.) picked up points with a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke.
- The Hawks got a big lift in the 200-yard butterfly as Mikey Schultz (Binghamton, N.Y.) came in first, beating the second-place opponent by nearly four seconds.
- Sinkinson also contributed a first-place finish in the 50-yard free and a second-place finish in the 100-yard free.
- In the 1m diving event, Jack Armstrong (Windham, N.H.), Peyton Humphries (South Glens Falls, N.Y.), and Keith Ruiz (San Antonio, Tex.) finished third, fifth, and seventh respectively.
- Hartwick had a strong showing in the 200-yard breaststroke as Tyler Ladue (Fulton, N.Y.), Evan Nezat (Jacksonville, N.C.), and Cole finished two, three, and four.
- In the 3m diving event, Armstrong jumped up a spot to second, while Ruiz finished fourth and Humphries finished fifth.
- After finishing second by just hundredths of a second in the 100-yard fly, Schultz returned to the pool to take a six second win in the 200-yard IM.
- Hartwick wrapped up their meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard free relay with team members Sinkinson, Knowles, Nezat, and Schultz.

The Hawks hit the road for their final test before the Allegheny-Empire Championships with a 1 PM meet on Saturday, January 28 at New Paltz.
