Women's Soccer Drops Match To Houghton At Home

Oneonta, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's Soccer team hosted Empire 8 opponent Houghton in a matchup at Elmore.

 

THE BASICS

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • From the starting whistle, the opponent controlled possession for early parts of the half.

  • The Hawks generated a corner and two shots on goal but both were saved. With the attack led by Gianna Cacciola (Wading River, N.Y.) moved down the field several times, but the team struggled to make the final pass for a dangerous opportunity.

  • Houghton scored their first goal of the game in the 18th minute.

  • Abigail McCleary (Monroe, N.Y.) commanded the back line as they began to make key tackles and cleared the ball with success as they held Houghton to just one more shot after their goal.

  • As the first half went on, Hartwick would gain more control, putting up ten shots but nothing to show for it as the half ended.

  • With the second half underway, the opposition added another goal in the 64th minute. The Highlanders would hold that lead for the rest of the game as the Hawks unfortunately ran out of time and picked up a loss.

The Hawks hit the road for another Empire 8 conference matchup as they face off against Elmira on October 18th at 3 PM.
