Alfred scored on the opening drive after returning a blocked punt for a touchdown. They added another touchdown to go up 14.

An Alfred drive moved the game into the second quarter but the drive was cut short as defensive back Nelon Priest (Schenectady, N.Y.) was able to jump in front of the intended receiver and intercept the pass. Priest now leads the Empire 8 with four interceptions.

James Sobol (Old Forge, Pa.) connected with Nate Rath (Newport, N.Y.) on a 28 yard dot to get the drive started for the Hawks. Sobol completed passes to Naquan Bradshaw (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Sean Neely (Monroe, N.Y.) to get them into the red zone but the drive ended in a turnover.

The Hawk defense forced Alfred to punt, Hartwick drove the ball down to the Alfred seven yard line with fifty three seconds left but were unable to convert on fourth down.

As the second quarter ended scoreless, Sobol posted 111 yards as Alfred held their fourteen point lead going into the third quarter.

The Saxons scored 21 points in the third quarter, Michael Lombardi (Wantagh, N.Y) picked off a pass and picked up 41 yards in the return.

The opposition scored their final touchdown to open the fourth quarter. The Hawks responded with a touchdown of their own as Dennis Riordan (New City, N.Y.) delivered a pass to Haven Marascio (Cape Canaveral, Fla.) for a twenty nine yard touchdown with six minutes left in the fourth.

The teams exchanged punts as the final six minutes of the game expired.
