Hawks Complete Day 2 of Bomber Invitational

Ithaca, N.Y. – The Hartwick Men's and Women's Swim and Dive participated in Day 2 of the 12th annual Bomber Invite. Today's meet had three sessions with morning swimming, afternoon diving and evening swimming.

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

MEN'S RECAP

  • The men got their day started with the 200 yard freestyle relay which was completed by the grouping of Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.), Hassan Abdelwahed (New Hartford, N.Y.), Mikey Schultz (Binghamton, NY) and Sebastian Knowles (Plano, TX) clocking in at 1:28.25.

  • Boden Tito (Southington, Conn.) put on a strong performance in the 400 yard IM, finishing at 4:19.80, placing him 10th out of 31 swimmers.

  • Schultz followed up with a strong performance of his own in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.91, putting him 5th out of 64.

  • Nick Tirrell (Turner, Me.) was the top finisher for the Hawks in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing his race at 1:47.52, just .5 seconds ahead of Rogers for 18th and 19th out of 53.

  • Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.) placed 23rd in the 50 yard freestyle with a 22.5 finish, just .1 second behind another swimmer.

  • The Men 200 yard medley relay with Owen James (St. Lutz, Fla.), Schultz, Abdelwahed, and Rogers was completed in 3:33.49 to complete the morning session.

  • Jack Armstrong (Windham, NH) scored 422.60 in one meter diving, placing him third out of nine divers. Peyton Humphries (South Glens Falls, NY) scored 342.35 for another solid diving performance from the Hawks.

  • The 200 yard butterfly would start the evening session and Tito carried his momentum from earlier, clocking in at 2:00.78 to earn tenth. 

  • Cameron Drake (El Cajon, Cal.), Schultz, Tirrell and James finished the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:27.61 to end the day for the men, scoring 478 through 30 events.

 

WOMEN'S RECAP

  • Courtney Pierce (Fulton, N.Y.), Cate Russo (San Pedro, Cal.), Bree Dy (Matawan, NJ) and Ellie Baird (Wilton, N.Y.) finished the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:44.01 to start the day off.

  • Danielle DeCarlo(Whitesboro, N.Y.) clocked in at 5:06.92 in the 400 yard IM.

  • Amanda Wilbur (Watkins Glen, N.Y.) was the first Hawk to complete the 100 yard butterfly, finishing the race at 1:03.52.

  • Russo completed the 200 yard freestyle in 1:59.57.

  • The grouping of  Min-Syun Chen (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Wilbur, Dy, and Baird completed the 400 yard medley relay in a time of 4:12.54 to end the morning session.

  • Marielle Rodriguez (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) scored 298.75 in three meter diving in the afternoon session.

  • DeCarlo placed 18th in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:24.25, adding points to the Hartwick total.

  • Chen completed the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:09.76, placing 16th out of 44.

  • Dy, Baird, WIlbur and Russo capped the day off completing the 800 yard freestyle relay at 8:24.90, as the team ended with 243 points after 30 events.

The Hawks will look forward to the final day of the Ithaca Bomber Invitational tomorrow, December 3rd.
