WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Hartwick capitalized on the Eagles opening possession three-and-out with a four-play 61-yard drive that ended with an 11-yard touchdown reception for Daniel Stein (Franklin Square, N.Y.).
  • Juniata responded on their next drive taking it 43 yards on 11 plays, but the Hawks defense was able to keep the home squad out of the endzone, forcing a field goal.
  • The Hawks continued to stay hot through the air as Dennis Riordan (New City, N.Y.) hooked up with Nate Rath (Newport, N.Y.) for a 16-yard touchdown.
  • The Eagles and the Hawks turned it up a notch defensively, stifling each other's offenses for the remainder of the opening quarter and through the second quarter.
  • Hartwick entered the third quarter up 14-3, but a fumble on their opening second-half drive ended in a scoring drive by Juniata, bringing the score to 14-10 in favor of the Hawks.
  • Juniata took the lead seven minutes later with a 69-yard run.
  • Despite the lead change, Hartwick battled back to regain their edge as Rath found the back of the endzone again with a 35-yard reception from Riordan for the 21-17 lead.
  • Unfortunately, Juniata was able to capitalize on two Hartwick turnovers in the 4th quarter, turning both into touchdown drives to cap off their 31-21 win.
  • Rath ended the game with 162 yards on 12 receptions, while Riordan completed 17 of 31 through the air for 230 yards.
  • Running duties were split between several Hawks, with Stephano Hadoulis (Palisades Park, N.J.) and Jaison Tucker (Boston, Mass.) leading the way with net totals of 50 and 44 yards respectively.
  • Joshua Titus (Greene, N.Y.) anchored the defense, making 10 total stops including a half tackle for a loss of two yards.
  • Jules Pierre (West Babylon, N.Y.) and Tomas Struck (Garrison, N.Y.) added eight and seven tackles respectively, with Struck getting to the quarterback for one sack that went for a six-yard loss.
