ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick College Athletic Department officially enshrined three new members in the Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 23 in an evening ceremony over True Blue Weekend.
The 2023 class was highlighted by the induction of former Head Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse Coach, Anna Meyer. Along with Meyer, two of her teams (1996 Field Hockey and 1998 Women's Lacrosse) were also inducted as only the third and fourth teams and the first women's teams to be inducted into the Hartwick College Athletics Hall of Fame.
Throughout the evening, family, friends, and distinguished guests heard speeches from former colleagues, captains and assistant coaches. Stories of times in the area of competition were common, but the sharing of their fond memories of being a part of 'Wick Athletics and the Hartwick community as a whole were highlights of the evening.
"When the Hall of Fame Committee convened over the summer, we found ourselves with 85 currently eligible athletes, coaches, teams, and friends of Hartwick College Athletics. The committee came to a unanimous decision to move forward with Anna as a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer for Hartwick," commented Executive Director of Athletics, John Czarnecki. "However, it all came together perfectly when the 1996 Field Hockey team and 1998 Women's Lacrosse team also rose to the top on the ballots. Having the opportunity to induct not only a special coach, but also two of her most successful teams across her tenure, led to an incredible atmosphere."
The Hartwick College Athletics Hall of Fame honors those who have made outstanding contributions to Hartwick's intercollegiate athletics programs. Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those who have brought distinction, honor, and excellence to Hartwick College through their athletic accomplishments. With the addition of the 2023 class, the Athletic Department will have inducted 171 former student-athletes, coaches, teams, and supporters into the Hall of Fame.
