ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hartwick Women's Swimming and Diving squad got their season off to a strong start taking first place in the 18
th Annual Hartwick Relays.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Marielle Rodriguez (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) and Annabelle Lindsay (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) were the first to pick up points for the Hawks as both competed in the 1M and 3M diving events in the morning.
- Rodriguez and Lindsay finished 1-2 in the 1M event with scores of 191.40 and 188.40 respectively.
- Despite a 2nd and 3rd place finish in the 3M event, the two posted scores of 184.4 and 177.4 with Rodriguez in 2nd and Lindsay in 3rd.
- The Hawks set the tone early as their 400-yard Medley B Relay team finished first in their heat.
- The A relay squad of Bree Dy (Matawan, N.J.), Elaine Chen (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.), Jillian Ferrie (Middle Grove, N.Y.), and Emma Lupe (Niskayuna, N.Y.) won their heat by nearly a full pool length.
- The Hawks were dominant once again in the 3x100-yard backstroke with Dy putting the team ahead early in the first leg.
- Kate Gucciardi (Cicero, N.Y.) took Dy's lead and extended it even further allowing Savannah Evans (Livermore, Calif.) to close out the race for another full pool length victory.
- Hartwick's A relays posted first place wins in every event but the mixed relays to win the competition by an overwhelming 110 points.
- Courtney Pierce (Fulton, N.Y.) was named the swimmer of the meet for the women guiding her team to wins in the 300-yard breaststroke relay, the 850-yard crescendo relay, the 200-yard free relay, and the 400-yard free relay.

The Hawks return to Moyer Pool for their first team scoring meet of the season as they host the King's College Monarchs in a dual meet at 1 PM on Saturday, October 19.
