WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks looked to make some noise in their final regular season road game, generating early pressure as Jessica Betts (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) fired two shots on goal in the first two minutes but both shots found the pads of the Elmira keeper.

  • Hope Angioletti (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) kept up the pressure, intercepting a pass and taking it down the field. Angioletti cut through several defenders and fired a missile to the right corner of the cage through contact for the first goal of the game.

  • Hartwick earned their first corner of the game at the five minute mark that resulted in a shot on goal but were turned away by the keeper.

  • Coach Autera's squad continued to up the offensive pressure, keeping Elmira in their final third as they struggled to clear the ball successfully as the Hawks repeatedly swarmed the Soaring Eagle backline.

  • Makenzie Kensel (San Diego, Calif) put her first shot on goal with a little over five minutes but just missed wide. Kensel made sure to capitalize on her next opportunity as Betts sent an entry pass through a crowded box to the lurking Kensel who was able to sneak it past the keeper for the score.

  • The Hawk attack continued to click as they earned their fourth corner with a little over nine minutes on the clock. Ashley Tricarico (Hopewell Junction. N.Y.) slotted an entry pass into the box, causing trouble for the Elmira defense. Katelyn Klotz (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) was denied on her first shot attempt but quickly recomposed and connected on her second shot attempt, extending the Hawk lead to three.

  • Angioletti put her offensive prowess on display once more to wrap up the first quarter, carving through the middle of the defense until she was met with a defender at the top of the circle who knocked the ball loose. Angioletti was able to keep possession and hit a half spin around the defender, firing a rocket to the back of the cage with four minutes left.

  • It was a quiet second quarter for the Hawks as they only posted three corners and four shots compared to their 19 shot first quarter.

  • Elmira connected on their lone shot attempt of the game, getting on the scoreboard with a little less than four minutes remaining.

  • The Hawks got back to dictating the pace of the game and keeping Elmira locked in their final third as they opened the half with a shot attempt missing wide just 19 seconds in.

  • Hartwick worked their way into scoring position once again as Danielle Hand (Queensbury, N.Y.) worked her way down the right side of the field. Betts was able to send a cross into the box that deflected off Hand and Angioletti into Kiara Dolan (Cazenovia, N.Y.) who was able to pounce on and redirect a loose ball off the bounce into the back of the cage for her first collegiate goal, two minutes into the quarter.

  • The Royal Blue and White posted seven more shots and eight corners in the remainder of the third quarter but were unable to generate an end product as they carried their four goal lead into the fourth quarter.

  • Hartwick continued to do their damage in the early goings of the quarter, striking for their sixth goal, two minutes in as Kayla Kinkel (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) ripped a missile from the top of the circle into the back of the cage for her first collegiate goal.

  • The Hawks maintained a comfortable five-goal lead for the remainder of the quarter, securing the victory over Elmira.
