WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
-
The Hawks hit the road for their third conference road game as they looked to make some noise against the Wolves of Keuka College.
-
Hartwick came out with early pressure, registering their first shot of the game in the fourth minute.
-
After being turned away, the Royal Blue and White earned their first corner at the six minute mark.
-
Shortly after earning the corner, the Hawks were able to get on the scoreboard first, coming from Hunter Bulich's first collegiate goal on a bicycle kick from far post after a wonderful entry ball from Jake Daly (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) in the sixth minute.
-
The Hawks continued to play with purpose as Daly notched his second assist, working his way into the box and connecting with Terriek Brown (Greene, N.Y.) who stutter stepped past a defender and rifled a shot into the upper right corner for his first goal of the season in the 17th minute.
-
A Hartwick foul proved to be costly as the Wolves got on the board, scoring off the awarded free kick in the 31st minute.
-
The Hawks continued to work hard and overwhelm the Wolves backline as a Keuka defender was tabbed with a yellow card, awarding the Hawks with a penalty kick.
-
Daly dazzled in the first half, adding on to his two assists by converting on the penalty kick in the 38th minute to cap off a stellar first half for the team as they displayed a product that we all know they are very capable of.
-
The halftime break did not slow the Hawks down one bit as they continued to soar around the field, dictating the pace of play and controlling the midfield.
-
Hartwick generated another early shot in the half but missed high as Keuka began to show resistance and push back.
-
Another Keuka yellow card seemed to jump start the Hawk offense once again as they took back control of the midfield and began to unravel the Wolves defense yet again.
-
Daly continued to make the most of his touches, dishing the ball off to a cutting Kwame Amissah-Arthur (Federal Way, Wash.) who was able to work his way into the box, juke away from a defender and find the back of the net with a swift strike into the bottom left corner for their fourth goal at the 74th minute mark.
-
The Hawks earned a corner in the 82nd minute and generated a shot but could not find their fifth goal of the game as they waited out the remaining eight minutes and picked up the win over Keuka.
COMMENTS FROM HEAD COACH JOHN SCOTT
"The team deserved this win today. It hasn't been easy dealing with repeated adversity, but they have never hidden behind anything. Our attacking play was excellent throughout today's game, and the four goals we scored were more than justified. Well done to the team for sticking together and working hard for each other."
UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
The Hawks will return to Elmore Field for an Empire 8 matchup against the defending Empire 8 Champions, Elmira College at 4PM on Wednesday, October 9th.
