WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Before today's match, Hartwick honored its nine seniors for their contributions to the program. Cynthia Aponte (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), Julia Bono (West Milford, N.J.), Grace Byrne (Lynbrook, N.Y.), Stella Giustino (Monroe Township, N.J.), Kayla Grassi (Montgomery, N.Y.), Meghan Perry (Otego, N.Y.), Morgan Perry (Otego, N.Y.), Stella Rowley (Little Falls, N.Y.) and Kylie Tous (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.).

  • The Hawks and Wolves got underway as the majority of the half was spent in the midfield as both teams struggled to maintain possession and formulate attacks.

  • Keuka was able to ring off the first shot of the game but it would be nothing that Perry couldn't handle as she notched her first save.

  • Hartwick worked their way down the field via several throw-ins as they began to break down the Wolves defense, Grassi notched the first shot of the game with a strike from just outside the box but was turned away by the Keuka keeper.

  • The Hawks earned the lone corner kick of the half but were unable to capitalize on it as the quiet first half came to a close with just three shots and one corner amongst the two teams.

  • The stalemate continued in the second half as the teams turned up the pressure in efforts of trying to score the first goal.

  • Keuka earned the first shot of the second half but was denied by Meghan Perry once again.

  • The Wolves earned the first corner of the game shortly after but nothing resulted as the Hawks were able to clear the danger.

  • Hartwick turned up their efforts and started to show life, posting a shot on goal but just missing wide.

  • The Hawks seemed to begin to figure out the Wolves defense as they inched closer and closer to scoring each time they worked down the field.

  • The Royal Blue and White would work their way down the field but struggled to piece together an end result when in the final third, being trapped by multiple Wolves defenders.

  • The Wolves put together a dangerous attack with less than ten minutes on the clock as a Keuka attacker pushed past the Hawk defense and seemed to have a one on one opportunity with the keeper until Morgan Perry executed a perfect slide tackle in the box from behind to disrupt the Wolves attacker and keep the game deadlocked at zero.

  • Hartwick posted a corner in the 86th minute but could not generate a shot on goal as the Hawks and Wolves ended in a stalemate.

COMMENTS FROM HEAD COACH BRIAN KNAPP

"Unfortunately today, it looked like we played the occasion rather than the game. Senior Day always brings a lot of emotions with it and we weren't able to put those aside and play the way we are capable of playing. It's a disappointing result to say the least. We came in with a plan and didn't execute it well enough today. We'll have to learn quickly from this again as we have two big road games this upcoming week."

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will head to Elmira College for an Empire 8 matchup against the Soaring Eagles on Wednesday, October 9th at 4PM.
