WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Hawks prepared to square off against the Soaring Eagles in their third conference road game this season.

Hartwick registered the first shot of the game with the first shot of the game coming off the foot of Julia Bono (West Milford, N.J.) but was saved by the Elmira keeper.

Elmira answered back with a shot of their own off the counter attack,running down the pitch and approaching the box with speed. Trinity Irizarry (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.) was able to draw close enough to the attacker and disrupt the shot before Meghan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) was able to notch her first save of the day at the eight minute mark.

The teams would exchange possession for the majority of the first half with teams gaining most of the forward progression from throw-ins.

The Hawks displayed great attacking potential in the first half, posting five shots with four on goal but struggled to create a quality chance.

With the scoreless first half coming to an end, Hartwick outshot the Soaring Eagles 5-4 with Elmira earning the only corner of the half.

Hartwick would be the first to initiate pressure once again to begin the second half, this time earning their first corner of the game in the 47th minute.

With nothing coming from the corner, Elmira took the opportunity to counter attack and make their way into Hartwick's final third. The Soaring Eagles put a shot on goal but were denied by Perry.

The Hawks responded with two corners in the 58th and 59th minute but the danger was cleared away by Elmira before the Hawks could generate a shot on goal.

Elmira worked their way down the field and put a cross into a crowded box that leaked out to an oncoming Soaring Eagle attacker who connected with a teammate in the box who then dished it off to another attacker in the box. The Soaring Eagles were able to generate a shot from close distance, just past the outstretched glove of Perry for the first goal of the game at the 70 minute mark.

Hartwick would give it their all in attempts of a comeback, earning a corner kick in the 79th minute but their offensive woes continued, being unable to generate a shot off the corner attempt.

The clock continued to work against the Hawks as they earned one last corner in the 88th minute but were unable to find an end product as they fell to Elmira in a close contest.
