FREDONIA, N.Y. - The Hartwick Swim and Dive program returned to Fredonia State for the Blue Devil Invite as both squads remained in the top three after two days of competition.

MEN'S RECAP

The Men looked to keep the momentum going after a strong start on the first day of competition. Sebastian Gomez (Mineola, N.Y.), Evan Nezat (Jacksonville, N.C.), Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.) and Sebastian Knowles (Plano, TX) began Day Two with a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay, combining for a time of one minute and 39 seconds.

Matthew Cole (Wolcott, N.Y.) competed in the first individual event of the evening for the Hawks, finishing sixth in the 400 yard IM with a time of four minutes and 41 seconds.

Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.) placed second in the 100 yard butterfly, clocking in at 52.80 seconds.

Hassan Abdelwahed (New Hartford, N.Y.) was second to touch the wall in the 100 yard breaststroke with a finishing mark of 58.45 seconds.

The 800 yard freestyle relay marked the end of Day Two for Hartwick with Lane Rawls (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Owen James (St. Lutz, Fla.), Rogers and Abdelwahed placed fourth, trailing the third place Alfred State squad by one second with a time of seven minutes and 29 seconds.

WOMEN'S RECAP

Bree Dy (Matawan, N.J.), Courtney Pierce (Fulton, N.Y.), Amanda Wilbur (Watkins Glen, N.Y.) and Jillian Ferrie (Middle Grove, N.Y.) opened up Day Two with a tightly contested 200 yard medley relay. The Hawks were just edged out by the Penn State-Behrend squad by .67 seconds to earn fourth place with a time of 1:52.91.

Danielle DeCarlo (Whitesboro, N.Y.) took second place in the 400 IM, clocking in at four minutes and 56 seconds for the women's first individual event.

Cate Russo (San Pedro, Cal.) was just .14 seconds away from securing a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle, her finishing mark of 2:00.76 seconds gave her a third place finish.

Pierce was first to touch the wall in the 100 yard breaststroke, blazing through the race with a time of one minute and six seconds. Min-Syun Chen (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) was next to finish the event, coming in with a time of one minute and nine seconds.

Dy, Pierce, Russo, and Anna Bischoff (Oneonta, N.Y.) took first place in the final event of the evening, completing the 800 yard freestyle relay in eight minutes and fourteen seconds for some crucial points in the standings.

The consistent night for the Hawks helped them move up to second place with a score of 1149.5 after two days of competition.
