Hawks Recognize Seniors in Final Home Contest of 2024

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Hawks recognized their seniors prior to this afternoon's contest against Alfred University in their final home game of 2024.

THE BASICS

  • Final Score:  Hartwick 0, Alfred 51
  • Location:  Oneonta, N.Y.
  • Records:  Hartwick (2-7 Overall, 1-5 Empire 8), Alfred (6-3 Overall, 4-2 Empire 8)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • After a three-and-out by the Hawks to start the contest, the defense went to work against the Saxons' offense.
  • Hartwick would bend but not break, holding Alfred to a field goal with just under 8 minutes remaining in the 1st quarter.
  • Unfortunately, the Saxons would get the best of the Hawks on their next possession going the distance in just two plays, highlighted by a 41-yard touchdown run.
  • After the PAT, the Saxons would take a 10-0 lead heading into the 2nd quarter.
  • Alfred University wasted little time in scoring again in the 2nd quarter, picking up another rushing TD at the 12:08 mark.
  • The visiting Saxons took complete control from there, finding the endzone three more times in the quarter to take a 38-0 lead into halftime.
  • Alfred received the ball to start the 3rd quarter after winning the pre-game coin flip and deferring to the second half.
  • It was evident that the Hawks made adjustments during the break, forcing the Saxons into two-straight three-and-outs.
  • However, Alfred would regain their form on their third possession of the half, with a 38-yard receiving touchdown to balloon their lead to 45-0 over the Hawks.
  • The Saxons took advantage of a Hartwick turnover late in the 3rd, eventually marching down the field for another receiving touchdown in a drive that spanned the end of the 3rd and into the early parts of the 4th quarter.
  • Alfred was unable to convert the point-after attempt and the score would stand at 51-0.
  • While the Hawks could not find the endzone during the contest, they were able to move the ball through the air as Christian Boswell (West Hempstead, N.Y.) threw for 155 yards on 14 completions.
  • Haven Marascio (Cape Canaveral, Fla.) led the team in receptions with six, while Conor Cosgrove (Warwick, N.Y.) led the team in receiving yards with 70.
  • Defensively, senior Randall Dennis (Miami, Fla.) led the way with six solo tackes, two assisted tackles, and a half sack.
  • Fellow senior, Jules Pierre (West Babylon, N.Y.) was in on six tackles.
