Swim and Dive Completes Day Three of Allegheny-Empire Championship

WEBSTER, N.Y. – The Hartwick Swim and Dive program completed Day Three of the Allegheny Empire Championship with both squads in the top half overall.

          

 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

       MEN'S RECAP

  • The Hawks entered Day three with a 20.50 point lead over second place, the 400 individual medley got the evening started as Boden Tito (Southington, Conn.) placed second with a time of four minutes and ten seconds. Tito ranked first among Empire 8 competitors.

  • Mikey Schultz (Binghamton, N.Y.) was crowned the Allegheny-Empire Champion and Empire 8 Champion in the 100 yard butterfly, clocking in at 49.04 seconds, adding 24 points to the Hartwick total.

  • Bryce Rogers (Fulton, N.Y.) completed the 200 yard freestyle in one minute and forty seven seconds, earning a fourth place finish, second in the Empire 8 and 19 points for the team.

  • Hassan Abdelwahed (New Hartford, N.Y.) continues to impress in his debut season, being awarded gold in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 56.68 seconds.

  • Jack Armstrong (Windham, NH) was crowned Empire 8 Champion in one meter diving with a score of 439.05, ranking second overall.

  • Peyton Humphries (South Glens Falls, N.Y.) ranked third among Empire 8 divers in one meter diving, scoring 326.45.

  • Hartwick wrapped up their evening with a second place finish among Empire 8 schools but third overall in the 400 yard medley relay. Rogers, Schultz, Abdelwahed and Owen James (St. Lutz, Fla.) finished their race in three minutes and twenty eight seconds.

  • The Hawks currently sit in first place overall with a total of 706 points.

 

WOMEN'S RECAP

  • Hartwick began their evening with a first place finish in the Empire 8 but second overall in the 400 individual medley by Danielle DeCarlo (Whitesboro, N.Y.) clocking in at four minutes and forty seven seconds.

  • Amanda Wilbur (Watkins Glen, N.Y.) completed the 100 yard butterfly in one minute and one second, earning a third place overall finish, second in the Empire 8.

  • With the 200 yard freestyle following, the Hawks added 20 points to their total with Cate Russo (San Pedro, Cal.) having a finishing mark of one minute and fifty eight seconds for a third place finish. Russo finished just .49 seconds behind a Nazareth swimmer.

  • Courtney Pierce (Fulton, N.Y.) earned gold in the 100 yard breaststroke, timing in at one minute and six seconds, giving the Hawks 24 points.

  • Bree Dy (Matawan, N.J.) completed the 100 yard backstroke in one minute, earning third overall with the Empire 8 leader finishing .22 seconds ahead.

  • Dy, Pierce, Wilbur, and Ellie Baird (Wilton, N.Y.) ended day three for the Hawks with a third place finish in the 400 yard medley relay,clocking in at four minutes and five seconds, finishing just two seconds behind top Empire 8 finisher Nazareth.

  • The Hawks currently rank fourth in the Allegheny-Empire Championship, second in the Empire 8 with 548 points after three days of competition.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

Hartwick will compete in the final day of the Allegheny-Empire Championship, tomorrow February 17, with prelims at 10AM and finals set for 5PM.
