WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Hawks and Golden Eagles matched up for the first time as conference foes and their second meeting overall.

Hartwick faced early pressure from Brockport, facing two corners in three minutes but were able to clear the danger.

The two teams exchanged fouls before Brockport was able to generate a third corner and the first shot of the game.

The strike from a Brockport forward came from just outside the box with a great amount of velocity on it headed towards the right side of the net. Dante Gesamondo (Lynnfield, Mass.) was quick on his feet and was able to make a full extension save to keep the game scoreless.

Fouls began to pile up on both sides as the first half proved to be very physical as both teams played with urgency, doing anything in their power to gain an edge over one another.

Andres Ordonez Acosta (Estado de Mexico, Mexico) worked his way into the box after holding off several defenders, generating a shot on goal but was turned away by an oncoming defender, Ordonez Acosta was able to produce a second shot off the rebound, but was denied by the post.

Physicality continued to increase as four yellow cards were called in the final 17 minutes of the first half.

The first half ended in stalemate as Hartwick led with four shots compared to Brockport's three, each goalkeeper registered a save and Brockport led the corner advantage 4-0.

The second half was underway and the officials made sure their presence was felt as both teams exchanged fouls in the first three minutes.

Brockport would test Gesamondo once again but Dante was able to corral the ball and turn the Golden Eagles away.

The Hawks continued to work hard and unravel the Brockport defense, earning their first corner after a well formulated attack.

Kwame Amissah-Arthur (Federal Way, Wash.) sent a lob in the box that found the head of Jake Daly (Baldwinsville, N.Y.), Daly was able to put a wonderful strike on it but unfortunately found the hands of the Brockport keeper.

Brockport was able to find the back of the net in the 63rd minute to take a 1-0 lead.

The Hawks still gave it their all, displaying maximum effort as the clock began to work against them.

Hartwick was able to generate two dangerous shots on goal with ten minutes remaining, but great saves from the Brockport keeper kept the Hawks off the board.

The Hawks earned a corner in the final seconds of the game but were unable to generate a shot on goal.

"We battled very well today and put everything into the game. It's tough to be on the wrong end of the result again, of course, but we are showing a great attitude to keep going. It's onto the next game now."
