  • Brockport began to maintain possession and control the pace of the game as they turned up their attack.

  • The Hawks faced a substantial amount of pressure, facing ten shots and four corners over the next twenty minutes.

  • Meghan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) held her ground in goal, picking up four saves as well as getting some help from defender Jenna Mierek (Prospect, Conn.) who was able to register a save of her own.

  • The Hawks held on as long as they could before unfortunately conceding the first goal of the game in the 41st minute.

  • Brockport was able to score another goal in the final seconds of the first half, extending their lead to two at half.

  • The Golden Eagles continued to up the attacking pressure, being denied by Perry twice in the first five minutes before scoring in the 55th minute.

  • Hartwick worked hard to try to get back in the game but the Brockport attack proved to be too much to handle as the Golden Eagles found their fourth goal in the 58th minute.

  • Jenna Mierek and Morgan Perry (Otego, N.Y.) were able to generate shots on goal in the final minutes but were turned away by the Brockport keeper.

COMMENTS FROM HEAD COACH BRIAN KNAPP
"Today was a great lesson in what proper fitness and athleticism is. We were second best to first and second balls and spent the majority of the game defending. We speak about valuing the ball, playing feet, protecting the ball and giving support and relief to our teammates. Unfortunately that wasn't on display from our group today. The better team showed why they are unbeaten and haven't conceded a goal so far this year. We'll take our medicine and start back up Monday to learn from this experience and get ready for another Empire 8 match up next Saturday on Elmore."

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS

The Hawks will return to Elmore for an Empire 8 matchup against the Keuka Wolves on Saturday, October 5th at 1PM.
