WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Hawks opened the contest down five until Xymier Thomas (Binghamton, N.Y.) knocked down the pull-up jumper from the free throw line.

Hartwick began to let it fly from downtown in attempts of working their way back into the game, Mike Gitz (Commack, N.Y.) and Joey McLaurin (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) poured in their first three pointers.

Cosmo Hardinson (Larchmont, N.Y.) knocked down a three pointer of his own to cut into the double digit deficit with seven minutes remaining.

The barrage from downtown continued as Gitz connected on his second three pointer, unfortunately, the Cardinals connected from beyond the arc as well to keep the Hawks at bay.

Coach Cooper's squad ramped up the intensity for the final two minutes, earning trips to the charity stripe.

McLaurin and Shane Micallef (Warwick, N.Y.) knocked down their free throws to cut the lead to single digits.

Micallef sank a deep three pointer, off the feed from McLaurin to end the first half with the Hawks down eight heading into the break.

The second half got underway with a driving layup from Isaiah Thomas (Manitou Springs, CO) for his first bucket of the night.

St. John Fisher continued to click on offense but the Hawks were determined to stay in the contest, I.Thomas and Micallef drained big triples to match the Cardinals' pace.

Henry Perkins (Albany, N.Y.) worked his way in the painted area and scored the heavily contested layup, earning a trip to the free throw line. Perkins completed the three point play, as the Hawks pulled as close as six.

The fouls began to pile up in the physical affair as Xymier Thomas drew a foul, putting the Hawks one short of the double bonus before the halfway mark.

X. Thomas knocked down both of his free throws, soon earning another trip to the charity stripe, picking up two more points.

Turnovers allowed the Cardinals to work back up to a sizable lead as Hartwick looked to execute on both ends in the final ten minutes.

Hartwick conceded one final run to Fisher to unfortunately put the game out of reach for the Hawks.

Four Hawks posted double figures in scoring as McLaurin led the charge with 13 points, Xymier Thomas scored 11 and led with seven boards, Gitz and Micallef finished with ten points.
