Hartwick Struggles Against Nazareth's Three Point Barrage

PITTSFORD, N.Y. - The Hartwick Women's Basketball wrapped up their final regular season road contest, falling to the Golden Flyers at Kidera Gymnasium.

THE BASICS

  • Final Score: Hartwick 36 Nazareth 81

  • Location: Pittsford, N.Y.

  • Records: Hartwick (6-17, 4-11 Empire 8) Nazareth (18-6, 12-3 Empire 8)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • The Hawks began their afternoon with Yadi Smith (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) lighting up the scoreboard, draining a wing three pointer, coming off the drive and kick from Emma Cohen (Utica, N.Y.).

  • Nazareth used their height to their advantage, creating second chance opportunities to create a lead.

  • Syd Delisle (Mechanicville, N.Y.) knocked down the corner three pointer after being spotted by Macy Durkin (Syracuse, N.Y.).

  • Hartwick displayed good ball movement in the first quarter as Smith connected with a cutting Durkin to cap off the scoring in the opening quarter.

  • Cohen opened the second quarter with a step back triple with Daniella DeBiase (Staten Island, N.Y.) picking up the assist.

  • The Hawks struggled to defend the perimeter as Nazareth's effectiveness from long range allowed them to build on their gap.

  • Smith poured in a step back trey to wrap up the first half as the Royal Blue and White looked for a way to cut down the double digit deficit in the second half.

  • Seneca Williamson (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) and Yadi Smith carried the offensive load in the third quarter, however, the Golden Flyers continued to connect from beyond the arc.

  • Nazareth's offense proved to be too much for the Hawks to overcome as they were defeated by the fourth place Golden Flyers.

  • Smith led the way with ten points, Durkin held the team lead with seven rebounds.

UP NEXT FOR THE HAWKS
