The Hawks geared up for another sunny day at Myrtle Beach, setting their sights on their first matchup of the day, going head to head with the Beavers of UMaine- Farmington.
-
It was a quiet first inning as Hartwick went down in order to start the first, Kylee Cucci (Brookfield, NY) got the start on the bump, setting down the Beavers in order as well.
-
Hartwick was held quiet on the offensive end in the second inning before UMaine Farmington broke the game open in the bottom half, collecting eight runs and six hits, capitalizing on the four Hawk errors in the field.
-
Samantha Osborne (Schenevus, NY) responded with a leadoff triple to ignite her squad, hoping to build some momentum being in scoring position with no outs.
-
Ashlee Stevens (Knox, NY) was able to knock Osborne in for their first run of the contest, reaching on an error by the Beavers second baseman. Stevens advanced to second on a groundout and stole third base but was left stranded on third to conclude the top half.
-
Defensive woes continued to haunt the Hawks as three errors in the third allowed the Beavers to tack on three more runs.
-
Anna Klein (Souderton, PA) continues to find the gaps at the plate, picking up her team leading fourth double.
-
The Beaver offense stayed hot, putting up five runs on five hits to put the game out of reach for the Hawks in Thursday's opener.

GAME 2 (vs UMaine-Presque Isle)
-
Hartwick looked to bounce back in their second game of the afternoon, facing off against the Owls of Maine-Presque Isle, playing as the visitors for the second game in a row.
-
Casey O'Connor (Albany, NY) and Autumn Millington (Westmoreland, NY) were able to get on base via a base hit and hit by pitch but did not find their way across the plate in the first.
-
The Owls made some noise in the bottom half of the first, pushing across two runs off three hits and error to take an early lead.Â
-
Coach Stroop's squad showed their resilience as they have many times before in the early goings of the season, responding with two runs of their own as Sierra Phillips (Salem, NY) earned herself a walk before Emily Holladay (Hancocks Bridge, N.J.) knocked her in with a single through the left side.
-
Klein settled in on the mound, taking care of the Owls in one, two, three fashion to wrap up the second inning.
-
The Hartwick bats stayed hot as the Hawks mustered two more runs as Millington started the inning with a leadoff single. Nadia Pascucci (Troy, NY) drew a walk before Osborne delivered with a two out single up the middle, driving home her fellow teammates.
-
Anna Klein continued to roll through the Owls lineup after conceding a run in the first inning, finishing with a solid outing of 5.2 innings, only allowing five hits and picking up a career-high five strikeouts.
-
Wick pushed their final run across the plate in the top of the 4th inning, making it three consecutive innings with a score as an O'Connor single brought home Stevens from third base.
-
Maine-Presque Isle put pressure on the Hawks in the bottom of the sixth, threatening to tie the game with two outs and an Owl on every base. With the go-ahead run at the plate, Kylee Cucci was tasked with getting her squad out of the jam and she did just that, freezing the Owl hitter with the offspeed for the strike out to escape the bases loaded jam.
-
Cucci struck out two more Owls in the final bottom half, picking up her second career save as the Hawks split Day Three in Myrtle Beach, SC.
