Cate Russo (San Pedro, Cal.) and Robby Lucas (Abington Heights, PA) were named Hawks of the Week following standout performances this past week, marking the first weekly honor of 2026 for both student-athletes.
Russo sent her seniors out in style in Hartwick's dominant 212-80 victory over Alfred on Saturday at Moyer Pool. She opened the meet with a commanding win in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 11:49.54 to outpace the field by more than 47 seconds. Russo followed with another victory in the 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 2:05.24, before completing the individual sweep in the 500-yard freestyle with a winning mark of 5:40.92. She capped off her stellar day as part of the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay team alongside Vaile, Bischoff, and Gucciardi, combining for a time of 1:47.01.
The Hartwick Swim and Dive team will travel to St. Lawrence for a dual meet against the Saints on Saturday, January 24 at 1 p.m.
Lucas has made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season, leading the Blue and White in scoring while helping the Hawks secure their first conference win of the season. He opened the week with a double-double against defending back-to-back champion Utica, finishing with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists on 50 percent shooting in a hard-fought contest. Lucas followed with a balanced effort in Friday's thrilling win over Alfred, tallying five assists, four rebounds, and scoring five points during a pivotal stretch. He returned to the floor Saturday afternoon with another strong performance, pouring in 22 points while adding seven rebounds and three assists on 50 percent shooting. Lucas also contributed defensively, recording a block and a steal in the narrow two-point loss to Houghton. Across the week, he totaled 49 points, 22 rebounds, 13 assists, one block, and one steal.
The Hawks will continue their homestand, hosting St. John Fisher on Friday, January 23 at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming Nazareth on Saturday, January 24 at 4 p.m.
