ONEONTA, N.Y. – Seniors Gianna Leggieri (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Autumn Millington (Rome, N.Y./Westmoreland) of the women's tennis team were named the Empire 8 Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This marks the second pair of Hawks to earn Empire 8 Doubles team of the Week honors, after junior Tehani Courte (Noumea, South Province/UCO) and senior Samantha Lantzy (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) won honors back on Sept. 21.

The doubles pairing of Leggieri and Millington won a thriller at No. 2 doubles this past Saturday against Alfred, winning in a tiebreaker to defeat their counterparts on the Saxon side. The pairing won 7-6 (7-4) to help clinch the doubles point for the Hawks and give them the doubles point.

The Hawks currently sit at 6-5, 6-2 and host Alfred on Tuesday, Oct. 13 for the opening round of the Empire 8 Women's Tennis Championship. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Wilber Park Tennis Courts, with SUNY Delhi's indoor courts set for a weather backup, beginning at 2 p.m.
