DELHI, NY – Hartwick Volleyball picked up another win on their trip to Delhi, sweeping the Broncos 3-0 at Floyd L. Maines Arena. The Hawks took all three sets by scores of 25-8, 25-12, and 25-23.
Hartwick came out strong in the opening set, jumping out to an early lead before pulling away behind a strong service run. The Hawks put down eight aces in the frame, including three from
Thylia Keoviengsamay (Rome, N.Y.), to take a 25-8 victory.
The Hawks continued to control the match in the second set, opening with a 4-0 run, later building an 11-1 advantage.
Justine Dickinson (Yaphank, N.Y.) helped fuel the early push with a pair of service aces and a kill, the Hawks closing out the set 25-12.
Delhi put up their strongest fight in the third, but Hartwick continued to answer each challenge. The set featured six ties and four lead changes before the Hawks were able to create some late separation. Hartwick held a 22-16 lead before the Broncos trimmed the deficit to one at 24-23. Hartwick closed it out on the next point to complete the sweep,
Lucille Walker (Ithaca, N.Y.) led Hartwick with seven kills while hitting a .500.
Makella O'Neill (Webster, N.Y.) finished with five kills and eight points, while
Adisyn Bobish (Middletown, N.Y.) added four kills to the mix. Keoviengsamay directed the offense with twelve assists, contributing four aces and six digs, along with the Hawks' lone block of the night. Defensively,
Olivia Pirkl (Cazenovia, N.Y.) led the Hawks with 10 digs, followed by Dickinson with eight. Hartwick finished the night with 16 total service aces.
