Volleyball Falls to Fisher, Ithaca at Empire 8 Volleyball Weekend

ROCHESTER, NY - Hartwick (7-18, 1-5 E8) lost a pair of three-set matches to St. John Fisher and Ithaca on Saturday evening at Nazareth College. The matches were part of the second and final Empire 8 volleyball weekend. 'Wick plays the host Golden Flyers and Utica tomorrow in its final two conference matches of the year.

Becca Smith (10), Brittany Rowan (9), and Laura Schwach (9) combined for 28 kills to lead Fisher to a 25-16, 25-15, 25-12 win over the Hawks. Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) had the team-high in kills for Hartwick with seven. She added five blocks. Darcy Dolge (La Grande, OR/La Grande) registered 10 assists and eight digs and Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) secured a team-best 12 digs.

In the second match of the day for 'Wick, Rachel Busch notched 15 kills and Corinna Doctor recorded 31 assists and 11 digs to help Ithaca (19-13, 5-1 E8) to a 25-13, 25-19, 25-18 win. The Hawks were led by Dolge who paced the team in kills (9) and assists (10). Mausert contributed another 10 digs.

The Hawks play Nazareth at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow and Utica at 3 p.m. to conclude the weekend's events.
