Lin Wins Both Matches in Loss to Oneonta

ONEONTA, NY - It took close to a month but the Oneonta State-Hartwick women's tennis match finally concluded on Thursday with the Red Dragons prevailing 7-2. The doubles portion of the dual match was played on Sept. 16 before inclement weather conditions forced a halt to the match.

Junior Jennifer Lin (Albany, NY/Albany) was victorious in both her singles match and her doubles match with partner Kim Post (Nashua, NH/N. Middlesex Reg.) to lead 'Wick. The Hawks trailed 2-1 entering today's matches. Lin and Post defeated Red Dragons Ashley Sears and Jackie Daly back in mid-September 8-2. The victory upped the duo's record for the 2009 campaign to 9-2 overall.

The Red Dragons won matches in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th singles to score the team victory. Lin was the lone winner for the Hawks in second singles. She defeated Emily Shannon 6-2, 6-0 to pull to within a win from the .500 mark (5-6). It was also her third straight singles victory.

The Red Dragons improve to 6-4 on the year. Hartwick slips to 4-7. The Hawks wrap up the fall season on Sunday as they host Stevens at 1 p.m.
