ONEONTA, NY - Hartwick finished up tournament play with a 1-3 record after two losses on Saturday. The Hawks dropped a four-set match to Plattsburgh to finish third in the Group A standings. In their final match against RIT, which finished third in Group B, the Hawks fell in three straight.
St. Lawrence University won the tournament in a five-set thriller over City College of New York. Union College took third with a three-set win over Plattsburgh in the consolation match.
In 'Wick's first match, the Cardinals won set one 25-21 before the Hawks came back to even the match at one set apiece with a solid 25-19 effort. The Cardinals would take the third set 25-21 and closed out the Hawks 25-15 in the fourth. Against RIT, the Tigers downed 'Wick by seven points in the opening set and edged the Blue and White by two (26-24) in the second before taking the third 25-14.
Senior Darcy Dolge (La Grande, OR/La Grande) had a strong second day with 19 kills. She added 19 assists, three aces, five digs, and three blocks to earn all-tournament honors. Sophomore Courtney Desmond (Cortland Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) added 16 kills, and team-highs of eight aces and eight blocks.
Freshman Shannon McGee (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) registered 16 assists to pace the squad, and Tori Beck (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown), and Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) recorded 16 and 15 digs, respectively.
The Hawks are back in action next weekend at the Elmira College Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
