ROCHESTER, NY - Nazareth (9-2, 4-0 E8) used a seven-goal second quarter to pull away from the Hartwick College men's lacrosse team in a 19-9 victory on Saturday in Rochester. The Golden Flyers stay unbeaten in the conference at 4-0. Hartwick falls to 3-6 overall and 0-4 in the E8.

The Hawks trailed by just a 4-3 margin early in the second quarter after a Harry Hughes (Holtsville, NY/Sachem East) tally 17 seconds into the quarter, but four unanswered Naz goals over the next six minutes handed the hosts an 8-3 lead. Seniors Brandon Wilk (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and Kevin Miller (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) scored later in the period for the Hawks only to have the Golden Flyers net two goals in the final five minutes of the half for a 11-5 edge.

Naz and Hartwick traded goals to start the third period with Matt Landry (Duxbury, MA/Duxbury) scoring from Dave Aitchison (Farmingdale, NY/N. Massapequa) for the Hawks, but Naz scored the next six goals including four in the opening 2:30 of the fourth quarter earn the victory. Ian Putnam (N. Pomfret, VT/Proctor), Hughes, and Aitchison tallied three straight goals for the Hawks in the fourth.

Kyle McLean led Naz with five goals. Mark DeCirce added three goals and an assist. Todd Dermody and Grant Williams combined for nine saves.

Hartwick's Ryan Twardowski (Emmaus, PA/S. Lehigh) made 15 saves in the Hawks' cage. Miller led 'Wick with five ground balls in the game. Aitchison and Joe Shields (Loudonville, NY/Shaker) each secured four.

Hartwick next plays on Saturday April 17th at 1 p.m. against Elmira College.
