Water Polo Opens CWPA Northern Division Play With 11-6 Win Over Brown

ONEONTA, NY - Trailing 3-2 early in the second quarter, Hartwick's 11th ranked water polo team scored six of the next seven goals of the game to take control in an 11-6 win over Brown at Moyer Pool. The game was the first for the Hawks (19-4) on their four-game CWPA Northern Division schedule with one more remaining tonight against Harvard. 'Wick is in search of its 10th straight division title this season.

Hartwick was led by Christina Evans (Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak) and Hanneke Alferink (Nijverdal, Netherlands/Univ. of Groningen) who combined for seven goals against the Bears. Evans netted four in the game. She now ranks 3rd all-time at Hartwick in career goals scored with 234 tallies. Alferink added three scores and Jessica McKee (Tustin, CA/Laguna Beach) scored two. Kirsten Hudson (Wellington, New Zealand/Sacred Heart) dished out a game-high four assists. Jess Dorman (Auckland, New Zealand/Diocesan) made nine saves for the Hawks in goal.

With the win, Hartwick improves to 24-5 all-time against the Bears. The Hawks look to stay perfect against Harvard tonight at 6:30 p.m. 'Wick is 23-0 against the Crimson.
