LEWISBURG, PA – Hartwick water polo disposed of George Washington 13-9 in the quarterfinals of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Championship Friday to advance to Saturday's semifinal round. The 13
th ranked Hawks will play #10 Michigan tomorrow at 3 p.m. for the right to play in Sunday's championship.
Against the Colonials, the Hawks jumped in front 4-0 in the first four and a half minutes.
Lena Kotanchyan (Moscow, Russia / Elk Island School) netted two of the Hawks' first four tallies. Hartwick maintained at least a three-goal margin until the third quarter when four straight goals led to a 12-4 advantage.
GW narrowed the gap to four, 12-8, but
Lauren Brennan (Canberra, Australia / St. Clares College) scored to make it a five-goal game at 3:18 of the fourth to help the Hawks close out the victory.

th time this season with the result. The Hawks now play Michigan in a rematch of two weeks ago when the Wolverines edged out the Hawks 10-9 in Ann Arbor.
Kotanchyan finished the game with five goals to lead the Hawks. Brennan,
Tori Wilson (Kitchener, ONT / Grand River Collegiate Institute), and
Zsofia Polak (Dunaujvaros, Hungary / Rudas H.S.) each registered a pair of goals.
Katie McKenty (Auckland, New Zealand / Takapuna Grammar School),
Charlotte Cottle (Sydney, Australia / Presbyterian Ladies College) each scored one goal.
Hannah Edwards (Encinitas, CA / Cathedral Catholic H.S.) and
Josette Santos (Huntington Beach, CA / Edison H.S.) split time in net. Each player made four saves.
