Water Polo Defeats Bucknell 14-12

LEWISBURG, PA - Hartwick defeated Bucknell on the road on Friday night by a final count of 14-12. Kirsten Hudson (Wellington, New Zealand/Sacred Heart), Hanneke Alferink (Nijverdal, Netherlands/Univ. of Groningen), and Jessica McKee (Tustin, CA/Laguna Beach) combined for 12 goals for the Hawks, who improve to 22-4.

The Hawks turned a 2-2 game at the end of the first quarter into a 7-3 lead at the hal. The Bison cut the lead to three at the end of three quarters, 11-8, but Hartwick held on for the two-goal win.

Hudson scored five goals to lead 'Wick. Alferink added four goals and McKee scored three and ended the game with five assists.

Sasha Freeborn (Auckland, New Zealand/Westlake Girls) dished out four assists, Lily Martinez (Commerce, CA/Montebello) had two helpers, and Shannon Leonard (Ponite Clair, Quebec/John Rennie) and Christina Evans (Cedar Hills,, UT/Lone Peak) each scored a goal in the game. Keeper Jess Dorman (Auckland, New Zealand/Diocesan) made nine saves and registered two assists.

The Hawks look for their eighth straight win tomorrow against Brown at 3 p.m. in Cambridge, MA. The Hawks then can clinch the CWPA North title against Harvard at 7 p.m.
