Hartwick Men’s Tennis Bows to Stevens

HOBOKEN, NJ – Hartwick was defeated by Stevens on Saturday 9-0 in Hoboken, NJ. The Hawks are now 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the Empire 8. The Ducks, who are currently ranked 10th in the region, improve to 13-2 and 4-1 in the conference.
The Ducks took the three doubles matches to straight the day's matches. 'Wick's Sean Barr (Scarsdale, NY/Edgemont) and Mike del Rosario (Troy, NY/Stamford) fell just short of their third win of the year, 9-7 to Carlo Pardo and Derek Smith in third doubles.
Hartwick fell in straight sets in five of the six singles matches. Jeff Boyd (West Newbury, MA/Pentucket Reg.) took Stevens' Shota Tasaki to a third set in first singles. After dropping the first set 6-4, Boyd took the second by a count of 6-2 to force the deciding tie-breaker. Tasaki took 10 of 12 points to secure the win.
Hartwick plays in four matches next week beginning with a pair of home non-conference outings versus Union on Apr. 20th and RPI on Apr. 22nd. The Hawks then travel for two Empire 8 matches at Alfred on Apr. 24th and RIT Apr. 25th.
