ROCHESTER, NY- Host Nazareth College defeated Hartwick women's tennis 7-2 on Saturday in Empire 8 conference play. The loss drops the Hawks to 2-2 on the season and 2-2 in the E-8 standings. Nazareth picked up their first win of the season, to improve to 1-2.
Freshman Angelica Cofer (Litchfield, CT/ Litchfield), and senior Kimberly Post (Nashua, NH/North Middlesex Reg.) each recorded singles victories for the Hawks. Cofer earned a 6-1, 7-5 win over Nazareth's Alexandra Vizgatis in second singles. Post scored a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 victory over Kelly Noble in third singles.
Christina Sorrentino (Sherrill, NY/ VVS) was edged out in three sets in the fourth singles flight to Christine Cary. Sorrentino cruised in the first set 6-1 with Kerry taking sets two and three 6-0, 6-3.
Hartwick will look to bounce back in their second match in as many days tomorrow against RIT at 1 P.M. in Rochester.
