Volleyball Falls to Skidmore and Vassar; Mausert Garners All-Tournament Honors

SCHENECTADY, NY - 'Wick volleyball lost two matches on Saturday to conclude play at the Union College Invitational. The Hawks fell in three sets to Skidmore 25-15, 25-18, 25-13 and dropped their second match to Vassar 25-14, 25-18, 25-18.

Freshman Britney Lintner (Ravena, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) registered team-highs of 18 assists and nine digs against the Thoroughbreds. Junior Lauren Mausert (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) registered a team-best seven kills and added five digs.

Against the Brewers, Courtney Desmond (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Hendrick Hudson) had the team-high in kills with six. Lintner secured a double-double with 12 assists and a team-best 10 digs, and Kori Eckert (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) and Kelly Sprengel (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) combined for 17 digs.

Mausert, who recorded five digs and two kills against the Brewers, was selected to the Union College Invitational All-Tournament team at the end of the day. She closed the weekend with a team-high 31 kills. She also contributed 27 digs, four blocks, and an ace for the Hawks.

Hartwick travels to Rochester for the first Empire 8 Conference Crossover next Saturday and Sunday at RIT. The Hawks open up with Elmira and Nazareth on Saturday.
