Women’s Tennis Falls Short Against Elmira

ELMIRA, NY- The women's tennis team played a close match against Empire 8 rival Elmira but fell short in the end as they lost 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at the Murray Athletic Center. The Soaring Eagles improve to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the Empire 8 while the Hawks fall to 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8.
Elmira led by a 2-1 margin after doubles play. The 'Wick duo of freshman Courtney Hinds (Montrose, PA/Montrose) and freshman Kim Willet (Suffield, CT/Suffield) won in first doubles 9-8, 7-5. They improved their record to 2-1 on the season.

Hinds took Briana Palmiero to three sets in first singles. She won 6-3 in the first set but fell 6-2, 6-2 in the next two.

Nicole Schepisi (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) moved her overall record to 2-3 as she won in three sets over Melanie Walker 7-6, 7-5, 6-4. Lauren Michels (Clinton, NY/Clinton) won her match with Alexandra Putney 6-1, 6-0. Kristen Napolitano (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) won her fourth match of the season as she took Micah Moscoff to a super tie-breaker and won 10-7 in the third set.

Hartwick returns to their home court on Sunday as they take on Stevens at 1 p.m.
