Women’s Tennis Drops Decision to Cardinals

PITTSFORD, NY- The women's tennis team fought hard against host St. John Fisher but ultimately fell in the end as they lost to the Cardinals 6-3 on Saturday afternoon. 

Hartwick was down 2-1 after doubles play. The duo of Lauren Michels (Clinton, NY/Clinton) and Rebecca Clark (Mexico, NY/Mexico) won in third doubles over Jennifer Lehner and Lauren Burke 8-6. They improve their season record to 4-1.

Kim Willet (Suffield, CT/Suffield) had a close match with Kathryn Pasier in second singles. After falling 6-3 in the first set, she battled in the second set but lost 7-5. Nicole Schepisi (Rensselaer, NY Columbia) won in third singles over Marissa Rotundo 6-3, 6-3. Michels was victorious at fourth flight with a 6-1, 6-3 decision over Jordan Brungard. The win gave her five wins on the season which is a team high.
'Wick was down 4-3 with two more flights remaining. Brittni Stasiuk (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell) went up against Sania Zaki and was defeated by the score of 6-3, 6-2. Kristen Napolitano (Mt. Sinai, NY/Mt. Sinai) lost two close sets to Kimberly Phimsipasom 6-3, 6-4.

The Hawks travel to Alfred to take on the Saxons tomorrow at 12 p.m.
